A management training program designed to “grow your bottom-line by training your leaders to coach and empower your workforce”.

Designed for long term results, this program is practical, interactive, and focuses on defining the role of the leader and how that role supports the success of others and the organization. Primarily focused on new leaders, this program also allows seasoned managers to strengthen and enhance their leadership skills.

The unique features of this program include:

·        2 full days of training, scheduled weekly.

·        fieldwork assigned between sessions designed to help with skill integration back “on the job”.

·       development of effective coaching skills critical to continued leadership success.

·        course facilitation by two professionally certified coaches who have extensive leadership, management and training experiences. Class sizes are limited to ensure that each student receives ample one on one time with instructors.

Day 1                       

Morning

Leadership For The 21st Century

  • The core elements and significant components of leadership in the workplace.

  •  Leadership Self-Exploration and Self-Observation.

  •  Attitudes and behaviors essential for leadership effectiveness.

Core Objectives:       

  • Examine personal beliefs about leadership

  •  Clarify “leadership” and “management”

  •  Create a shift in thinking from “individual contributor” to “leader/manager”. Identify the Time, Skill and Value shifts necessary to lead effectively.

  •  Introduce Personal Leadership Style Analysis and Emotional Intelligence

Afternoon

Your Leadership Style and the Two C’s: Communicating and Coaching

  •  Leadership role clarification.

  • The impact personal style has on followers.

  • Effective communication and coaching approaches designed to motivate and inspire others.

  • Specific skills and techniques for generating emotional and motivational states that support behaviors and outcomes.

Core Objectives:

  • Analyze personal leadership style analysis and its effect on the team

  • Establish the relationship between communication and coaching

  • Develop and practice effective communication strategies

  • Learn the basic theory of Emotional Intelligence, including the five components of a high performance work environment, with informative self-assessments.

Day 2                        

Morning

Coaching and Team Building for Leaders

  •  Building on the coaching skills introduced in previous session:  solution focus approaches and clarifying desired outcomes.

  •  Creating a team culture and aligning employees with organization values and mission.

  • Inspiring employees to unite and work with a sense of purpose.

Core Objectives:       

  • Develop and practice an essential coaching skill: providing effective feedback

  • Examine a three step coaching model- Inspiring others-mentoring and coaching

  • Coach for continued performance management- The “two-minute challenge”.

Afternoon

The Challenges of Leadership: Conflict and Change

  • “Change” as a source of workplace conflict.

  • The dynamics of “change” and “change” management strategies.

  •  How to use a stressful event to positively challenge, train and stretch employees toward beneficial outcomes.

  • Advanced workplace communication skills, using tools and techniques designed to enhance the student’s interpersonal communication process.

Core Objectives:

  •  Identify the psycho-social characteristics of “change”.

  • Describe specific change management strategies.

  • Explore effective conflict management technique: Appreciative Inquiry.

  • Clarify difference between “conflict” and “confrontation”.

Meet Your Course Facilitators & Coaches:


Shirlene K Warnock, C.P.C             Innovative Growth Solutions

Shirlene has been a business manager, consultant, trainer, and coach for nearly a decade. Shirlene is experienced in the start-up and building of organizations through the training, coaching, and motivating of key-level executives and staff. Shirlene combines the perfect blend of real-life experience and professional training; not only has she been educated in the principals of executive coaching, leadership training, and business development, she has had the opportunity to successfully assist building several businesses by personally implementing these principles. Shirlene’s success strategies focus on coaching, visioning and goal setting, compassionate business restructuring, leadership training, and innovative marketing. Shirlene is a certified mediator and a skilled facilitator, highly organized and totally committed to her client’s success.

Shirlene is a Certified Professional Coach, holds a Mediation Certification from Southern Oregon University, is a Certified Facilitator for The Centre for Coach Training, and an adjunct instructor for Portland Community College.



Sarah Stebbins, PhD., CPC            Swift Current Consulting

Sarah has over 20 years experience in the development of training curriculum, having designed over 100 workshops, seminars, and courses which range from four hour sessions to full-semester graduate level courses. These programs have been delivered to independent universities, groups, and diverse organizations. Most recently, she developed and taught “Essentials of Leadership” for mid-level managers at Legacy Health Systems in Portland OR. Her leadership training has been described as “some of the most effective training I have ever received”. In addition, she is experienced in coaching executives and leaders with managing organizational change. As a coach and facilitator, Sarah is highly skilled at helping individuals and groups gain clarity and guiding them towards success.

Sarah holds a B.A. in Social Work from the University of Montana, a M.S in Environmental Education from the University of Oregon, and a PhD. in Training/Development from Oregon State University.
